Prep Time: 20 minutes


Ingredients:

1 cup all-purpose flour 🌾

2 tablespoons sugar 🍮

1/2 teaspoon salt 💸

1/4 teaspoon baking powder ⚖️

1 cup milk 🥛

1 large egg 🥚

Vegetable oil for frying ⛽️

Powdered sugar for dusting (optional) ❄️


Preparation Steps:

1️⃣ In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder 🔄

2️⃣ In a separate bowl, whisk together milk and egg 🥛

3️⃣ Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and mix until smooth 🌈

4️⃣ Heat about 2-3 inches of vegetable oil in a deep frying pan to 375°F ⛽️

5️⃣ Using a cookie scoop or spoon, drop small balls of batter into the oil 🎂

6️⃣ Fry for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown, then flip and fry for another 2 minutes 🔄

7️⃣ Remove from oil and place on paper towels to drain excess oil 🧹

8️⃣ Dust with powdered sugar (if desired) and serve warm 😋


Notes and Tips:

For an extra crispy coating, chill the batter in the refrigerator for 30 minutes before frying ❄️

Don't overcrowd the oil when frying, cook in batches if necessary 🚫

If you don't have a thermometer to measure oil temperature, test with a small piece of batter - it should sizzle and rise to the surface quickly
